Stella Maris – an ambitious large-scale CCS-solution

Snic 2023 Johanne Bø

Stella Maris CCS is a pioneering solution for handling CO2 volumes from industrial sources, irrespective of size or location.

SNIC 2023 – Innovate to Zero, held on 29 September, will delve into new business opportunities in the maritime and offshore sectors, focusing on innovation and the green transition.

One of the conference’s key themes is carbon capture solutions, exploring how the industry can adopt technologies to effectively reduce emissions.

We are excited to announce the participation of Ms. Johanne Koll-Hansen Bø, Vice President of Altera Infrastructure and Head of Stella Maris. She will present “Stella Maris CCS,” a large-scale, flexible, and scalable maritime logistics solution for captured CO2.

While renewable energy and alternative fuels play essential roles in reducing global warming, fossil fuel consumption remains necessary to meet energy demands. Studies show that a carbon capture unit on a ship can achieve up to 90% CO2 reduction. High energy demand, storage, and transportation of captured CO2 have been challenges, but carbon capture technologies show promise in meeting industry regulations.
