2. February – Meeting the Norwegian Parliament

The Standing Committee on Transport and Communications of the Norwegian Parliament is visiting Singapore from Monday, 30 January, to Thursday, 2 February. NBAS hosts an event at the Norwegian Seamans Mission to learn about the Parliament and the Committee’s work and showcase Norwegian companies in Singapore within the committee’s responsibilities. The committee’s responsibilities are matters relating to domestic transport; postal services; general issues relating to telecommunications and electronic communication; pleasure boats; and the responsibilities of the Norwegian National Coastal Administration.

4 February. New in Singapore

At the event, the Church will serve tacos true to tradition and organise presentations, a panel discussion, and an opportunity for mingling. The event is an excellent opportunity for new expats, accompanying partners, and students in Singapore to learn more about Singapore and the Norwegian and connect with others. We warmly welcome all newcomers in Singapore and invite them to take the opportunity to get to know us and get engaged with the NBAS!

NBAS is pleased to invite all members to an exclusive networking event promoting one of our member companies. The event will take place in the early evening, allowing attendees to network and make valuable connections while enjoying a selection of simple yet delicious food and beverages.

One of our member companies will host the event and showcase its products and services. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the company and its operations.

The event is open to all NBAS members. It is an excellent opportunity to learn about a new member company and make valuable connections within the Norwegian business community in Singapore.

14 February: Q1 Regional meeting

Regional meeting for the leaders of the Norwegian commercial chambers in Asia, including NorCham. The meeting focuses on updates from the Chambers, input from Innovation Norway and other regulatory bodies. The overarching theme for this year’s meetings is the Norwegian Asia Business Summit in Thailand from 22 to 25 November.

 

 

MARCH 2023

1 March Tech Circle – Artificial Intelligence

The event aims to bring together industry leaders, experts, and professionals from various sectors to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the business community in Singapore. The conference will cover a range of topics related to the implementation of AI in various industries and the opportunities and challenges that come with it.

8 March Maritime: IMO- regulations EEXI, EEDI & CII

NBAS is pleased to invite to this event focusing on the latest developments in IMO regulations. The event will focus on the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) for existing ships, the shortened Existing ship Energy Efficiency Index (EEXI), and other requirements maritime companies need to be compliant with as a tool to reach the IMO goals for greenhouse gas emissions.

The event will be held at the Techlab by Innovation Norway. It will bring together leading experts from the maritime industry, regulatory bodies, and technology providers to discuss the latest developments and best practices for meeting the new regulations.

The program will include keynote presentations, a panel discussion, and case studies highlighting the challenges and opportunities of implementing these regulations. Participants will learn about the technical aspects of EEXI and EEDI and how they can leverage technology and data analytics to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and meet regulatory requirements. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to network with other industry professionals and learn about the latest solutions and services available to the industry.

29 March: Annual General Meeting

We wish our members welcome to Norwegian Business Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), where they will have the opportunity to review and discuss the Association’s Annual Report and financial statements for 2022 and budget and plan for 2024. Subscription fees for 2024 will also be addressed, and possible adjustments to the constitution and the Committee will be elected for the next term. Additionally, the AGM will appoint the auditor for the association. The AGM is exclusively for members of the Norwegian Business Association.

26 April.  Norway Night.

High-level networking event for maritime executives, aiming at further strengthening the commercial and bilateral maritime ties between Singapore and Norway as two leading maritime nations. Hosted by the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Week, Norway Night is a by-invitation-only event on the official SMW 2023 program, gathering more than 500 maritime decision makers for social engagement and networking, in the historic meeting point Clifford Pier.

28 April Singapore Norway industry workshop on maritime decarbonisation

Join us for a workshop on maritime decarbonisation as part of Singapore Maritime Week, hosted by Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore, and the Norwegian Business Association Singapore. The event will gather senior-level managers, country managers, and decision-makers from Singapore and Norway to discuss ammonia bunkering, hydrogen value chain, maritime electrification, and charging topics.

The target audience includes technology start-ups, shipping companies, asset owners, solution providers, and finance, insurance, and legal service providers. The objective of this event is to provide a platform for Singapore and Norway-based companies to have in-depth exchanges and discussions on two or three focused topics aligned with Singapore Maritime Week, with two key thrusts: ‘Solving challenges through innovation’ with Singapore and Norwegian companies coming up with problem statements to technology/solution providers and introducing funding mechanisms, test beds and possible pilot projects, and ‘Solving challenges with existing solutions’ with a sharing session for existing solutions and services in Singapore and Norway that corporates can tap on for addressing their challenges.

25 May – Decarbonisation – Disrupting the maritime value chain

The event will bring together industry leaders from the banking, cargo, and ship owning sectors and other key players in the Norwegian and Singaporean maritime industries. This event will focus on the new requirements and initiatives to address the decarbonisation issue in the maritime sector, such as the Poseidon Principles for banks and the Sea Cargo Charter for cargo owners. Attendees will learn about the latest developments and best practices for addressing the environmental impact of the maritime industry and gain insight into the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

6 June – Norwegian Competence on Singaporean Boards

The event will bring together industry leaders from Norway and Singapore to explore the opportunities for Norwegian expertise on the boards of Singaporean companies. Hosted in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Directors, this event will provide a platform for attendees to learn about the benefits and challenges of having Norwegian board members in Singaporean companies and the best practices for successful cross-cultural board dynamics.

15 June – Tech Circle: Waste, circular economy. From bottles to vessels – how do we manage waste and apply circular principles?

The Norwegian Business Association Singapore is hosting an event called “Tech Circle: From bottles to vessels – How do we manage waste and apply circular principles.” This event will focus on discussing the challenges and opportunities associated with managing waste and applying circular principles in various industries. Attendees will hear from experts in the field as they explore topics such as the latest technology and innovation in waste management, best practices for implementing circular principles in different sectors, and how businesses can work together to create a more sustainable future. The event will be an excellent opportunity for professionals, entrepreneurs, and academics to network, learn and share ideas on managing waste and applying circular principles in their organisations and industries.

29. August. Crime and punishment in Singapore

The “Changes in Singaporean Law: Consequences for Companies and Individuals” event will provide a comprehensive overview of the recent changes in Singaporean law and the consequences for companies and individuals who may breach them. The event will feature experts from various legal and compliance fields who will discuss the key updates to the law, including potential penalties and enforcement actions for non-compliance. The event will target mainly business leaders, legal and compliance professionals, and a general audience interested in Singapore’s laws and regulations.

28 and 29 September SNIC 2023 – Innovate to Zero

SNIC 2023 – Innovate to Zero is a two-day conference on September 28th and 29th that will bring together industry leaders and experts to discuss the latest innovations in the maritime sector and other industries driving the transition to net zero carbon emissions. The conference will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and interactive sessions that will explore cutting-edge technologies, business models, and policies that enable the industry to achieve net zero emissions.

29 September. The Norwegian Seafood Dinner

Welcome to the Norwegian Seafood Dinner 2023! We are thrilled to host this event in partnership with the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore and Innovation Norway. Join us at the Fairmont Ballroom, Raffles City Convention Centre & Swissotel the Stamford on Friday, September 29th, for an evening of delicious seafood from Norway, all served in the elegant surroundings of the Fairmont hotel.

This is an excellent opportunity for members of NBAS to invite their customers and connections to experience the best of Norwegian seafood in a truly unforgettable evening.

We are delighted to invite our members and their guests to this evening, starting with the arrival of guests at 7:00 pm and seating at 8:00 pm. At 9:30 pm, we will be holding the NBAS Award Ceremony. After the award ceremony, we will end the night with an after-party at Anti: dote, Fairmont Singapore, from 11:00 pm.

Team Norway Renewable Energy Event.
The event will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and experts to explore the latest developments and opportunities in renewable energy. This event is organized in partnership with Innovation Norway, Norwegian Energy Partners, and the Norwegian Embassy. It promotes cooperation and export opportunities between Singapore and Norway in this vital sector.
We host the event in Singapore, a hub of business and innovation in the Southeast Asian region. It will focus on the immense need for renewable energy to sustain our civilization and protect our planet.

As the global demand for clean and sustainable energy sources continues to grow, this event will provide a platform for attendees to learn about the latest technologies, products, and services in renewable energy. The agenda will include keynote presentations/case studies, a panel discussion, matchmaking, and networking sessions. 22-25 November Norway Asia Business Summit (NABS) in Thailand

The Norway-Asia Business Summit, 2023 in Bangkok, was the first physical summit since the pandemic. Meet and connect with delegates from Norway and the rest of Asia to expand networks, understand market trends and gain insights on investment opportunities and challenges in the region. The summit will also showcase sustainability projects and success stories and cover key themes such as ESG/SDG, Energy solutions, Electrical Vehicle hub in Southeast Asia, Norwegian tech start-ups, seafood exports, and maritime subjects.
