NBAS is collaborating with upcoming artists in Singapore and Norway to showcase their work, while we get a creative take on our graphic profile. In February 2021, NBAS will be featuring Chris Chai.

Chris has given us the rights to use his artwork in our communication material.

Chris Chai (b. 1987) is a full-time practising graphic artist and illustrator. He is a graduate from the School of Visual Arts, Illustration Program in New York City (2013). His visual practice can be summarised into one essential idea – the exploration of line and form through continual repetition. With this in mind, he tries to compose imagery that questions the idea of perceived dimension, while potentially hurting your eye a little. Above all, his work is heavily influenced by complex and organised visual structures around us. For instance, everything from architecture to textile patterns to cross sections of some biological life serve as a source of infinite inspiration that merits constant investigation. Through his work, Chai seeks to examine the relationship between order and chaos. Ultimately, he hopes to some day achieving the illusive understanding of balance.

Chai has exhibited in group shows locally and internationally. However, he is currently focusing on finding synergy between expanding his commercial art practice and refining his personal one.

Notable clients include: Google, LinkedIn, Glenfiddich, TigerBeer and Caltex.
