Guttestreker’s unique illustrated philosophy

Guttestreker is an artistic duo consisting of Petter Malterud Grøndahl (b. 1989) and Christoffer Kroge Christensen (b. 1990). The duo was formed in 2015, after a late night drawing session. The two have since received great praise and attention for their unique artworks, already making them a household name in Oslo. While their artistic talent is apparent, neither of the two have a formal art education. However, this is one of Guttestreker’s greatest strength – their approach to art is non-traditional and different. Their methods and creative process is what they call Illustrated Philosophy, drawing on real-life challenges and mythology.

Guttestreker is inspired by society and the sciences. Each of their artworks is based on historical events, explorations, modern issues and academic literature. Through depicting famine, exploitation and religion, they wish to engage the spectator and make them deliberate on global challenges. Their art contains smaller details as part of the broader works, all of which point towards a particular theme. The dystopian topic is often contrasted with humoristic figures and a vibrant colour palette. This makes the works more exciting and accessible to the general public, with the ultimate aim of getting the message across.

Previously they have been commissioned projects by Oslo Fashion Week, Mercedes, Redbull and Microsoft Norway, just to name a few.
