Danelec

Danelec is a hardware and software service provider which has strong Nordic roots through recent mergers and acquisitions. It was itself acquired in 2025 by French LNG membrane tank supplier GTT. Danelec’s offering of products and services can be summed up as follows:

-Danelec brand of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR) and data collection hardware
-Kyma brand of Shaft power meters and performance software
-Ascenz Marorka brand of onboard Fuel Monitoring hardware and Weather Routing and Voyage Optimization software
-Vessel Performance Solutions (VPS) brand of ship performance monitoring and analysis software

Danelec’s head office is located in Copenhagen, however the company has a global footprint and strong Nordic roots. Ascenz Marorka originated from the Icelandic ship performance pioneer Marorka which was founded in Reykjavik and still has an operational base there. The Norwegian connection comes from Kyma which was included in the group in 2023 and remains a substantial part of the company’s offering. The Bergen office employs about 30 employees.
