Audun Alvestad (b. 1980, Alesund) is a Norwegian painter whose work resonates across cultures, blending relatable everyday scenes with a striking artistic vision. A graduate of Kunsthogskolen in Bergen (MFA, 2016) and the Det kongelige Danske Kunstakademi, Copenhagen (2015), as well as holding a BFA from the Kunsthogskolen I Bergen, Avd Kunstakademiet (2009), Audun’s work reimagines the beauty of simplicity through vibrant hues and subtle humor, resonating across cultural boundaries.

Audun’s art tells stories of “average Joe” characters engaged in familiar tasks—mowing the lawn, ironing shirts, or enjoying leisure time. These moments are universal, reflecting life’s shared experiences while inviting viewers to pause and reflect. His distinctive style combines vivid colors with thoughtful compositions, offering a lighthearted yet meaningful commentary on societal roles and modern living.

Audun’s talent has been recognized with several prestigious grants, including a 3-year working grant for young artists from the Arts Council Norway, Prosjektstøtte, Norwegian association of Artists (2017) and Statens utstillingsstipend, from the Arts Council Norway, Prosjektstøtte (2016). His works are part of esteemed collections, such as The Bunker Artspace, USA), Preuss Collection, Azman Museum, and the Drake and Lohia Collection.
