The ship is called «Clipper Eris» and is owned by Solvang ASA in Stavanger, the technology is developed by Wärtsilä in Moss, Norway. The project team will visit Singapore to officially set sail from the docks at Seatrium.

Shipping accounts for up to 3% of the world’s total GHG (Greenhouse gases) emissions. It is a challenge for Norwegian shipping, as a major global player. At the same time, Norway is a leader in the development of several new technologies that can help solve the problem.
A current technology, which can have an immediate effect, is the capture of CO2 on board ships, so-called Onboard Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS).

Over the past few months, Clipper Eris has been in dry dock in Singapore for a full overhaul. Here, the ship has had new CCS technology installed, which makes it equipped for far stricter environmental requirements in the future.
This is also good news for the world’s 70,000 merchant ships, which today mostly run on fossil fuel. With CCS, the exhaust is cleaned and CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 70 per cent, before it is stored in deck tanks for discharge to sequestration or usage. Such facilities can be mounted on all types of merchant ships that are based on fossil fuels.
